Lokomotif Union Pacific Meledak dan Terbakar di Utah
[11/1] Sebuah lokomotif milik perusahaan operator Union Pacific meledak dan terbakar di pedalaman Negara Bagian Utah, Amerika Serikat pada Sabtu (9/1) dini hari waktu setempat. Bagian mesin lokomotif dengan nomor 6381 ini hancur akibat ledakan.
Seperti dilansir dari Fox 13, pihak Union Pacific mengatakan peristiwa ini terjadi sekitar pukul 3 dini hari saat kereta melintas di daerah Wahsatch di Summit County. Entah apa penyebabnya mesin lokomotif 6381 yang digandeng bersama lokomotif lainnya tiba-tiba meledak dan terbakar. Kereta pun terhenti seketika.
Petugas pemadam kebakaran dari Dinas Pemadam Kebakaran Summit County dan Dinas Pemadam Kebakaran Uinta County serta ambulans dari Summit County diturunkan untuk memadamkan api serta mengevakuasi masinis dan asisten masinis.
Beruntung tidak ada korban luka maupun jiwa dalam peristiwa ini. Ledakan yang terjadi juga tidak menyebabkan kerusakan pada gerbong yang diangkut saat itu. Penyebab meledaknya lokomotif ini masih dalam proses investigasi oleh otoritas terkait.(RED/BTS)
