[24/3] Program mudik gratis sedianya menjadi program rutin tahunan yang diadakan oleh Kementerian Perhubungan (Kemenhub) dan BUMN. Namun apa daya, dengan keadaan pandemi COVID-19 program ini terpaksa tidak dilaksanakan untuk tahun ini.
Seperti yang dikutip dari Twitter Kemenhub151, Direktorat Jenderal Perhubungan Darat (Ditjen Hubdat) secara resmi meniadakan mudik gratis 2020 untuk angkutan darat. Pihaknya menjelaskan langkah ini dilakukan sebagai tindak lanjut keputusan BNPB terkait perpanjangan masa darurat COVID-19 hingga 29 Mei mendatang.

Dilansir dari Bisnis, pembatalan ini disebutkan berlaku untuk semua moda transportasi. Yaitu bus, kereta api, penyeberangan, kapal laut, dan pesawat terbang.
Sementara itu, seperti yang dikutip dari Liputan 6 Direktur Jenderal Perhubungan Darat Kemenhub Budi Setiyadi menyebutkan BUMN juga mengambil keputusan untuk membatalkan program mudik gratis. Pihak Kemenhub juga telah berencana untuk mengkaji proses pelarangan mudik demi mencegah penyebaran COVID-19. Budi menyebutkan opsi antara pelarangan, pembatasan, ataupun sekadar himbauan semuanya sedang dikaji dan masih belum ada pernyataan lebih lanjut.
Ia juga mengimbau bagi para pemudik yang akan menggunakan kendaraan pribadi untuk membatalkan rencana mereka. Hal ini dikarenakan pergerakan antarkota dapat berpotensi menularkan virus ke masyarakat di daerah. (RED/IHF)
