[3/11]. Setelah hampir 9 bulan ditutup dari lalu lintas lama karena digantikan jalur baru, akhirnya kini ada kejelasan mengenai nasib Terowongan Notog Lama dan Jembatan Serayu Lama. Terowongan dan jembatan ini rencananya akan dijadikan objek wisata baru di kawasan Banyumas.
Dalam proposal yang diajukan, rencananya pengembangan Terowongan Notog Lama dan Jembatan Serayu Lama akan dilakukan oleh BUMD milik Pemerintah Kabupaten Banyumas, PT Banyumas Investama Jaya. Nantinya kedua prasarana ini akan menjalani renovasi dan modifikasi supaya bisa menjadi tempat wisata yang menarik.
Misal Terowongan Notog Lama. Nantinya bangunan terowongan akan dibangun restoran, museum, toko souvenir serta akan dijadikan spot selfie yang dapat menarik perhatian. Serta di area sekitar terowongan nantinya akan dibangun camping ground yang dapat digunakan pengunjung untuk menginap atau berkemah.
Sementara itu di Jembatan Serayu Lama, nantinya akan dibuat sebuah restoran menggunakan rangkaian kereta bekas yang ditempatkan di atas jembatan. Sehingga pengunjung dapat merasakan sensasi makan di kereta yang melintas di atas jembatan sembari menyaksikan pemandangan indah Sungai Serayu dan kereta api yang melintas di Jembatan Serayu Baru di sebelahnya.
Bantaran sungai di kolong jembatan nantinya akan dibangun sitting ground dan taman serta dermaga yang nantinya akan digunakan untuk tempat berlabuh kapal wisata Sungai Serayu. Tak hanya itu, di sekitar jembatan juga akan dibangun sejumlah wahana seperti jembatan tali, bungee jumping, dan flying fox.
Terowongan Notog Lama dan Jembatan Serayu Lama nantinya akan dihubungkan menggunakan sejumlah moda transportasi wisata seperti perahu wisata yang melintas di Sungai Serayu, kereta gantung, hingga jalur mobil offroad.
Diharapkan dengan dimanfaatkannya Terowongan Notog Lama dan Jembatan Serayu Lama dapat menjaga kedua aset bersejarah perkeretaapian ini serta menarik perhatian lebih banyak wisatawan untuk berkunjung ke Banyumas.
