Seperti pembangunan stasiun baru. Rabu kemarin JR East memperlihatkan proyek pembangunan stasiun baru di Jalur Yamanote kepada awak media. Tujuan diperlihatkannya proyek ini adalah untuk memberitahu masyarakat sudah seberapa jauh proyek ini berjalan. Meski masih dalam proses pengerjaan, namun bentuk bangunan stasiun sudah terlihat dengan jelas.
Desain bagian atap stasiun terlihat begitu unik. Bagian atap terinspirasi dari seni melipat kertas dari Jepang, origami. Jika dilihat secara keseluruhan bangunan stasiun ini sepintas terlihat seperti bangunan istana Kekaisaran Jepang. Bangunan stasiun dirancang oleh arsitek Kengo Kuma yang juga merancang bangunan Stadion Nasional yang akan digunakan pada Olimpiade mendatang.
Stasiun ini terdiri atas 4 lantai, satu lantai di bawah tanah dan tiga lantai di atas tanah. Loketnya sendiri akan ditempatkan di lantai dua. Bangunan stasiun juga akan terhubung dengan perkantoran dan hotel lewat walkway. Stasiun ini berada di petak antara Stasiun Shinagawa dan Stasiun Tamachi.
Saat ini stasiun baru belum memiliki nama. JR East sendiri mengadakan sayembara nama stasiun kepada masyarakat. Nama resmi stasiun akan diumumkan pada musim dingin mendatang. Rencananya stasiun ini akan dibuka sementara pada musim semi 2020 dan beroperasi sepenuhnya pada 2024. Stasiun ini juga nantinya akan memainkan peranan penting saat maglev beroperasi pada 2027 karena lokasinya yang tak jauh dari Bandara Haneda.
